After failing to find the yarn I was looking for at the craft store yesterday I searched online to find what other craft stores were in the area. I was surprised to find that there was a Hobby Lobby in Springfield, which is the town that basically adjoins Eugene. From the GoogleMaps directions it seemed walkable, so I decided to set out on a bit of an #AdventureWalk this morning and check it out.
Since I normally start my morning walk before most people even wake up my big challenge is usually timing things so I don’t get to places too early. I could have tried to kill some time at the house and simply go for a walk later, but I tend to get antsy if I don’t get out and walking at my regular time, so I decided to do most of my normal morning walk and add the trip to the shopping area with the store I was looking for as an additional leg at the end. So I went to Maurie Jacobs Park and the Owen Rose Garden, and then continued south to Slton Baker Park. Google Maps said it would be an hour’s walk to get from there to my destination, so my plan was to leave there at eight since the store opened at nine.
There’s a Pokémon Go event running this weekend where Psyducks seem to be spawning more frequently and the shiny variants are probably in the game now, so I was on the lookout for those. I didn’t find any shiny Psyducks, but here are some real ducks that were swimming in the park.
I walk faster than the GoogleMaps estimate, so I had to kill some time before the store opened. They didn’t have exactly what I was looking for (for my amigurumi crochet projects I need a lighter weight yarn than what’s used for the majority of knitting and crochet projects so the selection tends to be thinner) but they were having a 30% off sale on yarn that ends today and I didn’t want to go home empty handed so I got some that was close enough to what I was looking for that it will probably work.
Then I headed home. This little adventure pushed the end of my walk much later than usual (although I was careful to make sure I’d have an #AutomaticWin screenshot from before 10am), but at least now I know where this store is in case I need anything from there in the future.
