[Blog #23] Testing Actifit - An app that rewards for exercising!

Goooood Saturday, readers! I'd like to share a cool app that I've tested today while cycling.

Heyho lovely readers! Today I did my classic weekend training to the beach and I tested a bunch of cool things, including a camera that I'll be using from now on (I'll post that soon).

That being said, on this post I'd like to introduce you to a new app called Actifit, which I tested during my training; I planned to post my training together with this review, but it ended up way to big so I divided into two.

Stay tuned, the training will be released very soon!

Actifit app on my phone.

What is Actifit? Their idea is to encourage people into exercising and reward them for that! All you gotta do is to download their app and try it out. Cool and simple.

How will they reward? It will happen though the blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, and particularly Steemit. As for now, on my understanding, they are upvoting posts created with their app, plus a distribution of their Token that they plan to release as soon as SMT's are introduced. This is exciting.

Actifit aims to create an SMT on top of steemit.com to allow proper reward based on "Proof of Activity" for its users. This would require the users to provide proof of their physical fitness activity, and reward them accordingly. - @actifit

You can get a more in depth understanding on their official introduction post below.

Announcing Actifit: innovative SMT for rewarding fitness activity!

I was excited to test it out today on my MTB training, just to see how it works. I've downloaded their  Android “Actifit Fitness Tracker” app from googleplay. It's super compact, which is perfect for my 'potato' cell phone.

Then it was just a matter of turning it on and go cycle!

The app will count your 'steps', for that reason, as far as your phone is moving, it'll count. No matter if you are walking, jogging or cycling. In my case I strapped the cell phone to my leg and let it there while pedaling.

Once you are finished with your activity you'll have the option to post it on Steemit, directly from the app. It'll upload just like the text below.

@mrprofessor tracked today a total of 17761 moves/activity via Actifit Fitness Tracker.
This involved performing activity related to Cycling

Before uploading you have the option to add texts, but not a full post like this; my strategy to go around that was to write this post before uploading my Actifit activity, with that in mind all I did was to edit the Actifit post and complete it with what I had written.

Keep in mind that the app is in its early stages and the team plan to implement a lot of functions such as image upload and GPS. On my first use all I can say that I already love their idea, I'll share and use it more, as it goes in the same direction as my project @cyclefeed - Encourage people into exercising!

Hope you've enjoyed this post. Don't forget to keep in touch, as the next post will be about the training.
