What a bunch of majestic rocks!
That's right, the Kata Tjuta / "Olgas" are an amazing group of rocks that are overshadowed by the famous big brother - Uluru.
The Olgas are located only 50km driving distance west of Uluru within the National Park.
This was one of the highlights that family and I experienced during our Outback travels, it's hard to compare this to Kings Canyon, it's just different!
As you drive up you see those wonderful rock formations, and with the clouds hovering over them it's like cherry on top.
As we arrived in the car park it started to rain and had to wait it out. While waiting out daughter started to watch cartoons on the tablet so she really wasn't interesting in walking... end result? wife and two kids stayed in the car while I explored.
I must admit, photos just don't do justice here. Once you stand there surrounded by the large rocks, it makes you feel puny and irrelevant.
Karu Lookout:- Moderate, 2.2 km return, 1 h
No more nice fluffy clouds :(
The path way that leads to Valley of the Winds!
Usually this place is fairly dry, but because it was raining for the past few days, we got ourselves a decent size creek.
Oddly enough the rocks were wet but not slippery, which was great because I could walk much faster and beat the "estimated" return time!
Karingana Lookout:- Difficult, 5.4 km return, 2.5hrs
It's really hard to judge how high is the peak, but the tallest one is 546 m from surrounding plain.
