It was a cold and sad evening for us in the Israel family.
Mom had been at the hospital for 2 days and they were considering operating upon her.
It was her fifth pregnancy and even though the first four were all girls, she had hoped this would be a boy.
Now, doctors say they can only save one, the Mother or the child.
Heck, we needed both.
I wiped off the tears that threatened to drop from my 10 year old beautiful face....
I shouldn't show weakness, no, not this time.
I walked passed the hospital attendants who always ensured I stayed very far away from the ward, thanks to my small nature.... 😂
"You didn't go to school today?"
Mother asked as soon as she saw me slip through the door quietly like a thief.
I placed my hands on my mouth indicating she doesn't make noise about it, she understood and smiled.
We talked a lot and I made sure she smiled all through. She also ensured she made me smile.
She didn't know I heard the news already.
I wasn't there to talk about the news anyway, my aim was to ensure she was happy and just then.....
He kicked.
She exclaimed!
The nurses were called upon and they immediately delivered her of a bouncing baby boy
It was the happiest day for us as a family. Mother and baby were safe. We lost none, despite the doctor's prediction.
Simply because I refused to let the bad news weigh me down and cheered up instead.
And just like @air-clinic would say....
Happiness is a great feeling. Many times we take it for granted but we don't know that its a great contributor to our general health and well-being. Even ill people who are happy recover faster.
Happiness does heal faster....
Resist the temptation to be sad despite hard times and strive to remain happy.
