In this world it's so easy
to be broken,
so many dreams are
fractured every day
We must carry on in
this world of madness,
when all we want
to really do is play
Trust is such a solemn
road to wander,
it can feel like a
stone stuck in your shoe
The pain brings you
back to this moment,
and can reveal a
very sacred truth
Don't ever spend
too much time looking backwards
or lying down and
gazing at the stars
This life is all
about the journey
and these broken dreams
can show us who we are.
A Personal Note: I wrote this poem after a major disappointment twenty years into my writing career. After the recent success I've found here on Steemit I see that each and every past setback and all of the hard work along the way prepared me for this moment.
Once thing I've discovered is success is much more work than the climb to get there but that is far from a complaint. These past few months have been some of the best of my life. I feel energized, not depleted. One message I would like to convey to all of you other creative folks out there is don't let anyone else's attitude towards your work dictate how you feel about your passion. Work smart, learn from your mistakes, double-down on what works, surround yourself with positive people...do this and you'll eventually succeed.
