Virtual worlds are becoming so life-like it's scary sometimes. But when it comes to animating human faces and recreating natural movements of the mouth and the many different expressions, we're just not there yet.

At least, if we look at the latest movies and games, human faces are still stuck in an "uncanny valley" stage, where it's so close, but still gives that uncanny feeling that it's got no soul. Here's a comparison of the real and CGI versions of Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars:

Still not quite there yet. But developments are going ever faster and I found a video with a face so real it blew my mind. It won't be long and even the job of actor will be replaced by A.I.... Have a look:

Wow... It's not actually animated yet, but you can see the potential; it looks like the entire head is completely anatomically correct, with bone structure and the many small facial muscles all included. It looks so damn real...
