Lesser Goldfinch
This Lesser Goldfinch comes in for a landing at the feeder. The other chatters, protesting the intrusion.
The Lesser Goldfinch is smaller than the American Goldfinch. It also varies more in coloration, and can be green or black-backed.
Females, juveniles, and wintering males can look similar, be aware of the size difference.
A great way to positively identify the bird you are seeing is to look at their ranges. If they don't live where you are, then it is a very high probability it is not that species.
