In order to expand the scope of my project (STEEM lighting Africa), seek for collaboration from businesses locally and to give STEEM a large visibility in my locality, I would be going live on air at AKBC radio station with the frequency 90.5 FM. This is actually both a TV and radio station of my state owned by the government.
About the radio station
Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation UHF channel 45, is a state-owned television station in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation was established on 4 April 1988 and is the first and only local television station. AKBC provides both television and radio services. It transmits in 90.528MHZ.-ref
If you are in Uyo - Akwa Ibom state, River state, Cross River state, Abia state or Imo state, you can all tune in to 90.5 FM Uyo by next week Sunday at 1pm Nigerian time.
This program would be broadcasted simultaneously both on air and on my Twitter account. If you are not in Nigeria, you have nothing to worry about. You can either watch me live on my Twitter account or you can live stream through the station online live broadcast on their website.
Do I have to pay to be on the radio for this program?
YES. I would have to pay. It is considered as promotion/advertisement. Nothing is done free there.
Any advert done here in any radio station in Nigeria is being paid for, they charge according to how many times you want them to advertise or how long the advert/interview would last per seconds.
What I planned to do is to go on a talk show. It would last for 20 to 30 minutes.
They would interview me, then I would use that opportunity to talk about my program and also STEEM.
For that 20 minutes of interview and promotion, it would cost me about fifty thousand naira (#50,000) which is approximately 136 STEEM using the rate as at the time I made this post today 2nd April, 2024 (at 10:19pm - Nigerian time).
This price is just for one time radio live interview. However, there are some bonuses like jingles to advertise STEEM at least 1 time after the show.
A good advantage of using the state station (AKBC) is that most politicians listen to it and a good number of citizen also listen to it. According to statistics, 7,200,000 people are said to be the population in my state.
I would talk about:
- The impact of STEEM in Nigeria and in the world at large
- The future of STEEM
- STEEM lighting Africa project and why the government should support
and
- There would interaction section where people can call to ask me question direct in the studio.
