Two years ago a dear friend asked me if I could help her paint two murals for a little girl. This fortunate beautiful kid had her bedroom and her play room transformed after her wishes without her knowing, as a surprise masterminded by her parents :)
For a week Sofia was asked about her preferences, her favorite place , favorite colors, favorite animals, cartoons , playmates, activities etc
As a three year old, she had a lot of whimsical answers, but it was easy to come up with a theme because recently her parents have taken her, for the first time to the sea side and that was her favorite place. She wanted to live there forever, build sandcastles, have monkey pets, colorful birds and swim with dolphins.
So the idea was to make her bedroom look like a beach, with all the furniture chosen in sandy colors, the wall had to look like a perspective towards the sea and to incorporate all her wishes.
In collaboration with her parents,we all abused pinterest for reference photos and we finally photoshopped together all the elements in this composition.
The second room was easier to come up with, as she loved Madagascar animated movie so we choose that for the theme
As I said this was a collaboration between me and my friend, @anabunescu.
I am so grateful that she asked for my help because at the time I was not working and my family was going through a very hard time. Doing this kind of work was like a breath of fresh air.
