The famous Russian architect Karl Brullov (1799 - 1852) also was known as a great watercolor painter. There are a lot of his masterpieces brings for us portraits of a lot of historic persons. He developed a portrait style which combined a neoclassical simplicity with a romantic tendency that fused well, and his passion for realism was satisfied with an intriguing level of psychological penetration.
He manipulated watercolor so perfectly, that sometimes I cannot believe it's watercolors. Look at yourselves on his masterpieces and try to imaging this gone epoque.
