Not so long ago, Tibetan monks began to build colorful sand mandalas in museums around the world, introducing visitors to the highly developed culture of Tibet.

Mandala is a concentric diagram consisting of very complex patterns and various iconographic images. In Buddhist mythology, the mandala is a very important sacred symbol that reflects the geometric scheme of the universe, more precisely its structure. In addition, this scheme depicts all Buddhist saints.
The principle of mandala is found in many ancient Indian arts. For example, according to the mandala system, with all its features, temple complexes, altars, and sometimes cities are built. This structure implies the creation of a "monumental way of life", as well as "creating a model of the world", simple and ideal.
As we see, mandalas are used in various Buddhist practices, where they symbolize not only the universe, but also many aspects of the Buddhist path. Tibetan monks build beautiful mandalas from the sand in different countries of the world, drawing attention to the situation in Tibet, but we should not consider mandalas only as exotic art. Mandalas are a complex instrument for meditation, which plays an important role in general as well as in advanced tantric practice and helps us to move towards enlightenment.
