Art: How to draw the Philippine Superhero, DARNA?

Hi, fellow Steemians!

When we were little children, we are so fond of superheroes. We like imitating their moves, poses and costumes. We believed that they really existed to save the world, the universe rather.

So, today, I will be showing you how I have drawn the most popular superhero in the Philippine Movies and Television. She is no other than DARNA! I hope you will like this!

Darna is a comic superhero created by the great comic artist - Mars Ravelo. Her heroic deeds also were seen in the television and on the big screen. She is just an ordinary person with a big heart for helping especially those in trouble with bad elements in the society.

Darna had been played by many beautiful and very good actresses in the Philippines. Vilma Santos, Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera were few of the DARNAS. My favorite is the latter.

Now that we are grown ups we realize that superheroes are just fictional. However, they have become part of our beautiful childhood. And to our country, Darna is already a very good icon to note in our history.

For this art, I used the following:
• Vellum Board
• Faber-Castell Color Sketch Pens
• Faber-Castell Classic Color Pencils
• Mechanical Pencils
• Eraser

Let's do this!

• Use a mechanical pencil to sketch the outline of the superhero. There are lots of techniques to be able to do this. The very common is by using grid.

• Apply a base color to the superhero costume to achieve a vibrant color in the end. I used a color sketch pen of Faber-Castell.

• Use a colored pencil for the final layer coating of the costume. Use a good brand. Quality really matters.

• Select the appropriate colored pencils for the skin. Be very careful on this to be able to achieve a realistic skin tone.

• Lastly, remember that time element is also very important in creating a good output. Be patient and do not make it rush.

• Wow, we finally made it!

    Special Message

We have our own superheroes. They can be our parents, siblings, relatives, friends, teachers, the president, a policeman, our pets, the fireman, the soldiers, the traffic enforcer, or anyone.

And YOU can be a superhero too to other people.
