Monochrome Monday - Aoife

Frustrated with the constraints of organizing "strobist" shoots, I did a whole series of spontaneous night shoots a couple of years ago. No stylists, no lighting, no planning..

While technically riddled with flaws, they were some of the most fun shoots I've ever done, and I learned a lot in the process. This is local creative Aoife (pronounced "Ee-Fah") who agreed at short notice to running around the city taking random photos.

When you're not concerned with styling, lighting, or location constraints, the photos can feel more genuine and candid. Indeed, the models expressed themselves and got more involved in the creative process during this series. Shooting in low light without getting too much noise was achieved with a combination of a modern full frame camera with good ISO performance, along with a wide aperture lens. More from this series soon.
