Hello Steemians!
Today I'd like to start a new series of posts called Craftwork. I'll be posting some interesting crafts such as this plant, which you can make at home using easy to source materials.
Disclaimer: I'm not the one who made this. My mom is a very creative and talented woman, and she has done several crafts and paintings and what not. Since she won't write on Steemit, I will be showcasing her work over here.
A Plant made from copper wire and nail paint
The stem and branches are made using readily available copper wires (fuse wire), and the leaves, you will not believe, are simply a layer of nail paint.
How to
Things You'll need
To make this plant, you will need some free time, some copper wire or any pliable wire of your choice, and a few different colored nail paints.
You will also need a base of some sorts to keep the plant upright. A piece of wood, or anything else you can get your hands on. You could also make roots by extending the wires and turn that in to a stand.
It's really simple and will not take you more than an hour to make.
Here's what you do
Step 1: Take a few wires, say around 10, and start twisting them into one single wire. That's your stem!
Step 2: Instead of twisting them all the way, leave the ends open. Take two separated wires and twist them in to thinner branches. There're your branches.
Step 3: Round the end of the branches into leaves. You will have something that looks like a leaf, but empty in between.
Step 4: Use nail pain to carefully and slowly paint over the leaves. The paint will soon dry to give you colorful leaves.
That's about it! Check the included images to see what it should look like. Trust me, it isn't very difficult to make this. Give it a try.
