I used to start with line art when I make stylization, and with a spot when I plan to make a portrait without contour. This time I go with stylization, so I start with trying to catch the face proportions. To tell the truth it never works for me on this stage, to make model recognizable I always have to add light:)
Adding basic colors and a messy background. Everything on separate layer, UNDER the layer with line art.
Usually I start with shadows, to know where the darkest spots are. Afterwards I'll have no darker areas, so I'll continue working only with light:)
Stylization loves bright colors. At least in the way I do it:)
I not really good in painting clothes, but here Trafalgar has perfect match on him - black jacket with white T-shirt. Super classic solution:)
