A nice quick one painted on canvas paper pad. I nearly added some African wildlife.
So, I finally did a nice new painting in my nice new garden. I recently moved to a London suburb called Finchley. My new place has a lovely little garden shared by a nice Irish lady and her black Labrador.
I sat down and chatted to my new neighbor before getting into the painting. She told me that her brother was an artist and that he passed away a few years ago. His kids actually published a book showcasing all of his landscape art. She showed me the book and I was really impressed with his art. Lots of beautiful land and seascapes. It did feel a little sad to be honest.
It was nice doing minimalism again. This style of painting is really relaxing and therapeutic and anyone can do it.
To begin with, I just colored the page with some nice yellow and gold paint. I didn't plan anything. I just kept looking at the image in front of me and it took shape in my mind. I guess it's a somewhat Zen approach to painting.
Wow, yellow. That's deep man XD
Now a good technique with these Minimal pictures is to paint a thin horizontal line through the middle. You can also add other colors and textures adjacent to this middle line. It creates a fantastic horizon or ocean.
It's not bad in this early state. It could be a desert landscape or a lake. I add a bit of water to the acrylic paint and just mix in some texture with the brush. You can see that the image is now creating a sense of depth. There' not much to it really! Half of it is just looking and thinking.
I used Liquitex acrylic paint for this one. It's really good and very affordable compared to the other pro brands.
Lastly, I added some simple trees and shrubs with the tiny brush. You can just dab and dot or add some water for more texture. I'm pleased with the results :) Was a very nice, relaxing English summer evening just painting in the garden. I've been living in the crazy inner city so chilling in the Burbs is quite a treat for me.
Here's a selfie of me and my new masterpiece! I'm much more smiley off camera!
Thank you so much for stopping by to look at my art. It's a pleasure to finally bring you some new painting content.
I'm also going to join the color pencil bandwagon this week. As some of you know, I specialise in Digital art but it can be very time consuming to produce. Why not just create beautiful traditional illustration in half the time? Don't worry, I will still be working on new digital vector art. I plan to do another book review/illustration soon.
I really hope you enjoyed this one! Please vote on my post and follow me if you like what I'm doing. My goal is to produce I nice mix of quality art for you Steemians. I want it to have enough variation to keep you guys entertained.
Take care and see you on the next one!
