WHAT IS PLAY-DOH
Play-Doh is a compound model used by children for art and home art projects. It consists of flour, water, salt, boric acid, and mineral oil. The primarily ingredients of play-doh are mixture of salt, water, and flour. Mixed petroleum compounds provide a smooth and soft feeling, and the borax compound is the one that prevents the mold from forming.
When Play-Doh had not been invented, the first use of young people to mold something was "mud" at the side of the river. The mud is used by an ancient man to make their shelter and some household items such as jars, pots, and glasses by cooking mud in the fire so that it becomes hardened after being molded.
Material Substances
- Flour - A powder made from ground wheat or other grain.
One of the coolest things about baking is that it's a science. That means that when you raise your ingredients and mix together, they are subject to chemical reactions to bring you your final product. That makes you, technically, a scientist!
- Water - A colorless odourless tasteless liquid that is a compund of oxygen and hydrogen.
- Salt - Sodium chloride ontained from mines or by evaporation of sea water, used to flavour and preserve food.
- Boric Acid - is a subtance derived from boron, used as a mild antiseptic.
- Mineral Oil - is a liquid through petroleum products to make fuel and other petroleum products from crude oil.
- Borax - A soluble white powder that is a compund of boron, used in making glass, enamels, and detergents.
HOME MADE PLAY-DOH
There is a problem with Play-Doh though, and that problem will not last long in our home. The bright pink halo with soft yellow and the blue and orange mesh in a mess, and before I realized what was going on, we were stuck in seven sticks of Play Doh's dark blue.
And it seems that dark blue is not enough, my children have tendency to drop small amount of clay on the floor. When they are finished playing and ready to hide their Play Doh, half of it is dry and should be swept up.
And because of that, I do not usually buy it. And yet I do not have enough money to buy. But I usually do not spend money on things I know that does not last. Their color is amazing, and I really want to buy them, but I do not spend much money if I know I can do it at home at a cheap price.
There are some simple recipes for homemade Play-Doh. My wife used to do "clay" before and I've seen how to do it. The ingredients of her Play-Doh are water, salt, flour, food coloring, and cream of tartar.
Ingredients
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/4 cup
- Flour - 1cup
- Food Coloring - 2 to 3 drops only
- Cream of Tartar
Instruction
- Combine the flour and salt and mix.
- In a bowl, mix the warm water and a few drops of food coloring.
- Slowly mix the water in a mixture of flour. Mix slowly until it is formed. Then put it in your hands until the flour is completely dissolved. If it is too sticky, add a little flour until the viscosity is gone.
If your kids are like mine, they're happy playing homemade playdough, but they want some toys to play with, too. Ultimately, homemade playdough will stop handling your children's interests. Meaning, you need to find the way to get them entertained and not bored of what they do.
Again, I hope you enjoyed and learned at least some of my shares today. It does not have to be a long written, what matters is that there is a good lesson to be found in every story or blog, and it is interesting to read especially if there is a picture or video. Keep the good quality of pictures and sentences.
