You will need:

  • old magazines
  • A4 hard paper (green / red / blue)
  • A4 hard white paper
  • scissors
  • liquid glue for wood and paper
  • toothpick or knitting needle
  • decorations (glitters, beads, bows...)

The process

First you need to prepare the paper rolls. There are lots of tutorial for this on the internet. Maybe you have already made them, so you know how.
It is quite simple. Just cut the newspaper on a long stripes around 7 cm wide. Then take a needle and start to roll the edge over it. The paper stripe should lean on the side so the roll will be longer. Slash the outer side with glue and roll till the end. You will need about 30 rolls, but it depends on their lenght. If you need to see it, here is quite good video with the process.

Now you can prepare the base. Cut the simple triangle out of the white paper. It should fits right into the A4 paper. You can make it bigger or smaller, it is up to you.

Then start to cut the rolls according to the base. you can start from the top, or the bottom and rolls can go horizontaly, verticaly or slant. Just be sure to add enough glue and do not be affraid of some irregularities. You will cut them off later according to the base.

Now you can stick the tree on the colored paper. You can choose some Chrismas color, or some unconventional.

Prepare your decorations. This is the best part. You can decorate it in two colors, or more, using only beads, or different kinds of decoration. Just have fun and enjoy!
