Hello and good Friday Everyone!
Today I wanted to share a little oil painting I made of a little cardnal bird.
The painting is quite small, about 10 x 15 cm and was painted on a little piece of wooden panel. :)
I usually never paint these tiny paintings as I prefer to work wit bigger brushes and shapes, but this one I actually quite enjoyed painting.
I always wanted to paint a cardinal bird because of its lushes bright red colors!
I also had this frame that had been lying around for a while that I was given by my friend who is a frame maker. I never knew what to paint for it or what would be fitting in a frame that small.. I was initially thinking I would paint a landscape, but then one day I came accross a photo of the cardinal and it was decided!
This little piece of panel fitted the frame perfectly so that was also a motivation to get painting, hehe..
If you have followed my blog for a while you know I am a great bird lover.
I was actually laying around with the idea of making a large sized dry point print of a few red cardinals sitting together.
What do you think about that?
And if you love birds as well, what is your favorite bird? :)
I hope you are all having a great start to the weekend!
