Landscape Study | Digital Painting + Process

Lately I've been doing a lot of portraits in terms of studies and I thought it was time to throw an environment in there as well. I also remember to save this at different stages so I could put together a process gif below.
As I've mentioned in previous posts the aspect of my work I'm currently working on are different interpretations of the different elements in my paintings.

One of the good things about digital painting is that you have a ton of control over your image. It's endlessly flexible and there's no such thing as a mistake that can't be fixed. But that's a double edged sword. When you're using traditional media you get a lot of beauty and interest just from the medium, for example watercolor and oil are beautiful by themselves without any subject matter. just some random brushstrokes can be quite appealing.

With digital, I'm finding if you want that extra level of interest from the medium, you have to be pretty deliberate about it. So this painting is me testing out different techniques for achieving that. There's a lot of experimenting with the mixer brush and painting with brushes different blending modes.

Also wanted to show the process of how I develop something like this. What do you guys think? Also what do people think in general of digital art as fine art. My career is in concept art, and this sort of thing is more for personal gratification, but it would be cool to do more with it.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments! :) As always thanks for looking!
