There's been some rumbling among some of my comic artist friends regarding what's happened with Star Trek and the draconian fan-film "laws" they've released as of late.
The worry is about doing art commissions of popular characters for the fans. Disney bought Marvel, and The Mouse is notorious for going scorched-earth on anyone using their Intellectual Property. Comic artists are waiting for the shoe to drop on art commissions for fans — worried that the table they bought for "Artist's Alley" at the latest Pop Convention will come to an end.
I'm not sure these corporations are that stupid — one would hope they realize fans love the character more than the companies that own them.
What are your thoughts?
Here's a marker rendering I did of Wonder Woman. =)
