Red Rose (artwork & poem)

What happens when you give an artist roses for Valentine's Day?  They draw/ paint them!  I got roses for Valentine's Day, and am planning to paint them, too - if they aren't too far gone.  I got this rose a couple days before Valentine's Day when my husband swiped it out of a vase at a winery - after we did some wine tasting there.  This rose was the perfect velvety red rose.  It was painted with acrylic paint and the leaves were drawn with a black lining pen.  Enjoy the rose and the poem that follows...

~ Red Rose ~

A few days after heart’s day,

Petals have opened to reveal

The inner workings of a cupid,

The velvety touch and feel.

Inside between your petals

The lush and silky skin,

Emitting the scent of love

And the look of instant passion.

Blessed are the souls who catch

Their dreaminess in silence,

Studying the lines and folds

And wasting away the hours.

How many petals does it take

To inspire the warmth and wonder,

Imagining the luxury of slipping

Between the petals of a flower?
