New art supplies! Using the Posca paint markers by Uni to draw a mushroom - Progression artwork.

Hey guys, it's @rigaronib, back with another sweet piece of original art.

I received a gift from some family members on Saturday!

What did I recieve? Posca paint markers by Uni. One pack of bold point and one pack of fine point. I have never used paint pens before, so since this is my first time, cut me some slack! haha

Anyways, I remembered @kaylinart doing a post on how to draw a mushroom a few weeks ago and realized that I had never drawn one, myself. I have always enjoyed how whimsical mushrooms can be and I decided, why not draw something that I have never drawn with supplies that I have never used? The end result actually turned out better than I had expected.

Let's get started!

Pencil sketch.

I started out with a pencil sketch to get the shape how I wanted it.

Ink outline

I then traced the sketch with a 0.5mm pen and erased the pencil lines

Color

Next I busted out my new paint pens and began filling in the areas. Firstly with the primary color and secondly with a darker color for shading. I found that if I laid down a line of the shading color in the area that I wanted darker, then smeared it with my finger, it made a nice effect.

Outline

After getting the colors to a place that I liked, I used the black paint pen for outlining the picture.

Crosshatching

After the outlines where complete, I decided that it needed something more. So I went in with the 0.5mm pen that I used for the original ink outline and began adding crosshatching details. I mainly added them where I felt like shadows would be. I feel like this really gave it depth, especially to the spots on the bell. I also used a white gel pen for some highlights here and there. (watch for white gel pen posts soon, as I finally bought one. @nekromarinist made me do it. haha)

Per the usual, here's a fun progression .gif:

Also, watch for my upcoming posts on yesterday's Fiesta Patrias, also know as Dieciocho, here in Chile. I will also be posting a recipe for the popular cocktail called the 'Terremoto' that everyone drinks during this celebration!
