Portrait of my niece Gianna, visualised in five steps.

This my 17 year old niece Gianna, Gigi for friends.
She's a warm, intelligent young lady with her heart in the right place... Truly a nice personality!

Because she'd like to learn to draw well, I used the opportunity to photograph the process, to show her (step by step) how it was built and developed. So, maybe she can learn something from it...
At the same time I thought I could use it to show it on steemit.
Win - win... win!

Step I: Set-up in lines.
Important here are the proportions and composition. How accurately drawn the better.
So the message is; take your time to observe good

Step II: The darkest parts.
The drawing is now set up in all the darkest areas. Even the pale (or white) parts get a mid tone.

Step III: kneaded eraser. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kneaded_eraser)
All highlights and light spots are erased away.

Last step: Details.
In this last step the focus is on the details, with a constant alternation of drawing and erasing.

Finished portrait, 50x50cm.

Warm regards,
