Art Attack! #113: UniCatsune and a Buff Taco? πŸ¦„πŸ±

Hey Steemit!

We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!

So if you missed my last couple of posts, I started sharing some art I did for my Twitch channel in the form of customised bit badges! Badges are special icons that users can put beside their name in the chat that will show up on different Twitch channels and if you send bits/cheers on a channel you get a special badge too! Each bit is 1 cent, and there are so many bit badges up to 5 million bits?!

I notice not many streamers do it, but I thought customised badges would look really cool so these were the ones I did!

So I've covered just about all of them now and we're down to the last 2 badges that I did! At this point I kinda ran out of ideas as part of the "whale series" and the only thing I could think of that was sort of "bigger" than a whale in terms of significance was a unicorn? But since I was making them into cats, I thought a uni-cat would be adorable!

There were actually quite a few different references I found online that looked cute, but I found the perfect picture to reference!

The colours were a little plain though and I wanted to change the expression of the cat a little bit. I also wanted to include some rainbows in there of course since the Meow-maid was so fabulous! So I decided to change it into kind of a kitsune, with multiple multicoloured tails! And a colourful horn too! So this was what I came up with:

I think it looked really cute! Still not as good as my Meowmaid one, but I still liked it a lot! Here's the timelapse:

I was thinking of many different kinds of poses but when I saw that reference I thought it was perfect for the 500x500px size and looked adorable!

Again, I know no one will get to use these bit badges since it requires contributing a lot of money (1 bit is 1 cent) to even get to see them on Twitch so I'm being so laxed about tracing. I do try to change it up with colours and poses but because it's only ever seen in chat at about 18px big, I figured it wouldn't make much difference whether it was a complete original or not. Besides, I'm not exactly profiting off these since they are just a bonus perk from giving bits and I'm not selling these as "my designs" so.

So for the last one I was planning to do, which is the 200K bit badge, I ran out of ideas because I couldn't think of what could be bigger than a unicorn in terms of you know, money. Like how start-ups are considered unicorns if they're worth a lot. So what could be bigger than a unicorn? I still have no idea.

But my chat likes to say that I'm super buff since I do pushups while streaming whenever someone redeems for me to do an exercise on stream. So for 200K bits I thought it'd be perfect for a Tacobuff badge! Or at least as a placeholder until I can think of something better.

I didn't really know how to draw the hands at first, or I guess fists. And I think it still looks kinda weird and misshapen tbh but I don't really know how else to draw biceps on a taco so.. oh well.

Here's the timelapse:

And that's about it for all my bit badges! Here's my full bit badge showcase! I didn't include the Tacobuff one in this since instagram only allows 10 photos max and I thought it wouldn't fit in with the rest of the badges anyway. This way it looks perfect!

The Meowmaid one is definitely still my favourite though! Which is your favourite?

Now that I'm looking at this series again, I'm getting inspired to try out more different whales but I still have a lot of other art to work on, so maybe in the future!

Thanks so much for reading!
