We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
If you missed the last couple of posts, I started a new series where I use this template to draw different characters based on suggestions from my viewers on Twitch!
I found this template on Facebook one day, and had the idea to draw different characters for a potential NFT series in the future maybe? And instead of drawing characters I already know I thought asking chat would be cool since it would expose me to different characters too!
Anyway, this was a request by one of my viewers who was also one of my mods' brothers! He goes by Falln_Kaminari on Twitch and wanted me to draw Himiko Toga from My Hero Academia! I've never watched the show before but I have heard about it and know there are many unique characters who are either heroes and villains? But I know it's really popular so it was exciting to try to draw her!
So I did some research on what she looks like and her base design does look pretty simple. I did a 5 minute sketch on stream and got this, which was mostly just her hair:
After that I went back and redid the sketch to change up the facial expression and pose a little bit so I could capture her character better. I know NFTs back then were kinda standard in that they stuck quite heavily to the template they used but I wanted mine to be more unique, especially if I was going to be drawing existing characters.
Anyway, Himiko Toga seems to be quite a crazy sadist and can be creepy character who likes killing so I thought drawing her with a more manic expression would be apt. She mainly uses knives but also has quite a few gadgets and a gas mask that she wears as her villain attire. I was considering drawing it but decided against it in the end since I wanted this one to be more simple, and didn't want to cover her face. So this was the revised sketch:
After that I thought it was good to outline and ended up with this:
And then it was time to colour! The colouring didn't take too long considering there were only 4 main colours anyway. I did give her face more shadow to make her look creepy and match her expression.
For the background, since I didn't really know what exactly to draw for her I just went with something simple - bloodstains. Since she likes killing a lot but I didn't want to get blood on her, this was a good opportunity to try the splatter brush again! And in the end this was the result!
Although this was good enough for Falln I think I could've done more with this piece. In hindsight I might have just been lazy and needed a break since I was also working on other stuff at the time while doing this and was slowly getting burnout from all the requests I had been doing. But if I had to change this I would've drawn more of her villain attire for sure. Like maybe her neck scarf thing instead of the gas mask like this one:

Overall I still like it though and thought it looked pretty good but I think it could've looked even better for sure! Oh well.. Falln wasn't even a regular on stream anymore so I didn't think the extra effort was worth it since he wasn't going to see it. And I knew the next piece was going to take me a while so this was a good break at least.

I stream on Twitch Monday to Saturdays 10pm GMT+8, playing games like Genshin Impact, Valorant and other games with chat! We also do giveaways, movie nights, tournaments and karaoke streams! It's always a chill time so stop by whenever and maybe you can get your own art too!
