We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
If you missed the last couple of posts, I started a new series where I use this template to draw different characters based on suggestions from my viewers on Twitch!
I found this template on Facebook one day, and had the idea to draw different characters for a potential NFT series in the future, but then the whole NFT thing kinda tanked. But I thought it was still a cool drawing exercise to do and I wanted to reward my loyal viewers. So instead of drawing characters I already know I thought asking chat would be cool since it would expose me to different characters too!
Anyway, this request was made by one of my viewers who went by @OceansCurse on Twitch! They're a big Kingdom Hearts fan and I think it was their favourite franchise, so they requested I draw Invi from Kingdom Hearts!

Having never played the games before I didn't know who this character was much less anything about her. The only thing I know about Kingdom Hearts was Sora and that you play with Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and gang, for some reason.
So I researched some references to see what she looks like and I even asked Ocean what's her personality like and stuff and curiously enough, even Ocean didn't know much! Apparently she's still very much a mystery to the fandom that no one even knows what she looks like without her mask! So while I would normally opt to change the pose and facial expression of the template to match the specific character it would seem like I wouldn't have much of a choice for this one.
So I just went with the default pose and drew her outfit and mask. This was the sketch I did on stream in 5 minutes or less:
And for the background Oceans recommended I draw a heart-shaped moon since that's a big thing in Kingdom Hearts. Off-stream, I cleaned up with sketch somewhat and we get this:
I think the challenge for this one was definitely going to be the colour and detail on her robes, especially since I wanted it to be as accurate as possible. To simulate the creases in her robes (since that was most of her design), I added some airbrush shadings and also some highlights on the gold trim to make it shiny. I tried my best on her snake mask and hoped it looked alright although I probably should've added more highlights to make it look more metallic.
I think it still looked alright though! And I mean it's not supposed to be that realistic in this style anyway so close enough.
For the background I went with a simple gradient I colour sourced from another image, used a moon brush and cropped out the KH heart before putting a glow around it!
And this is the full piece! I thought it was kinda simple looking but since the character is a mystery it seems fitting to draw her in a neutral position to retain her mystique. Also I drew her outfit as accurate as I could so there wasn't much else I could add especially since I'm not familiar with the games.
Overall, it looks a little simple but I kinda like it! The outfit still has some detail to it so I guess it works. Here's a timelapse:
