The first ornate frame I’ve ever drawn

Not too bad for a first try. I’m still feeling sick but I’m doing a pretty good job at ignoring it. I took @leoplaw’s advice and made myself some juice. Maybe I’ll make tea tomorrow once I pick up a few lemons. Thanks everyone, for the recommendations!

I’m deciding if I have enough energy to keep drawing tonight. I’ve got so many ideas flooding in. I wonder if it’s because we’ve just stepped into Aquarius season.

I started this sketch with little to no confidence. Hand drawing something that should be perfectly symmetrical made me want to throw up in my mouth.

That’s when I thought about drawing half of the image and then doing a mirror flip of it. Would you consider this cheating? Either way, it helped me out a lot and saved me on time.

I was really surprised when I copied, flipped, and matched up the image. I’ve seen advertisements for drawing apps that will mirror a drawing as you sketch. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it myself but it looks interesting.

I went back in with a darker color and made a few minor changes. The frame was starting to take shape and I was feeling good about what I was creating.

I plan on using the finished drawing for two different ideas....or I could draw a new frame. I could probably use the practice. And this is how I convince myself to do more work and not take an easy route.

Thanks for checking out this sketch!
