1st place // @arbitrarykittenPanic

Alone, she couldn't breathe. The lights faded and darkness made her world very small. It turned up uneasy horrors to full volume, pulling them from the deepest recess of her mind, out from the corners she'd forgotten she'd stashed them. It declared the fears that were left unspoken, surprising her with how loud the empty was. Her heart beat faster, threatening to split her chest. She gasped for reality as she was drug further from reason. Too late to scream, the hands of panic pulled her down, down from the light. Down from reality. Away from sensibility. Far from life.

2nd place // @felt.buzzbreak

She looked at her reflection in the little silver mirror that stood on the dressing table. The mirror had been her mothers. She had memories of playing with it as a child. It was the only possession he had allowed her to keep. From her life, before him. She could see the hands, the demons of her relationship, clearly in the reflection. She wondered if others saw them too. When she had done what needed to be done, would she be celebrated? Or vilified? One hand cold and thin, but powerful - so very powerful! - was clamped tightly over her mouth. She could never speak of her torment. It was their little secret, he said. Another hand covered an eye, the other an ear. She could see, she could hear. But only what he wanted her to see and hear. What he allowed her to see and hear. She took a deep breath. It was time to break the cycle. To break out of her prison. To break free of her demons. It was time to fight back.

3rd place // @iamredbarCalm

There was no denying that this was the end. Having escaped this feeling multiple times before, she now accepts her fate. The look she carries isn’t one of sadness or worry, but one that is brave. Fighting it more would surely cause more harm than help. So, she chose to be calm as they took her far away.

I was happy to be able to draw today. Fun, fact.. I usually draw fresh new images for each fox tales contest. What can I say, I live on the wild side. I do work better under pressure and I’m given an excuse to procrastinate until the deadline. 😉 That means on downtime this foxy gal will be sleeping as much as she can, watching shows on Drama Fever or reading horror manga like a boss.

Next week will be the 10th week of #foxtales... WOW! I feel like I should try something new or do something extra special for all of you. I may even invite a guest judge to hand out extra rewards.. 🤔 Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys this weeks image and progress shots. I had a lot of fun drawing it up and I feel extra proud because it came out so pretty!
