Art Challenge 9: The Sunken City of Knowledge

We walk along the seabed in an ocean full of knowledge. Everywhere we look there are things to learn and be fascinated by. Books tower above us like buildings, each one is its own reality waiting to enlighten or entertain us. The fish don’t visit this place for the knowledge. They swim above it without interest in the deeper meaning to life.

On the other hand, the fish may be right. The people who walk among the books may be missing out on the beauty and magnitude of the ocean. It has its own story to tell that is larger than any library can contain. Humans write over that story with oil spills, overfishing and garbage without pausing to read what it first said.
