Valkyrie was originally created for a collector/friend of mine. The primary concept (seen at the bottom of the post) was supposed to act as reference for an oil painting that we considered creating. Well, we never ended up pulling the trigger on the project and so I never had much use for the image.
After seeing the call for entries for Art Explosion Week 24 I ran over several ideas pertaining to the theme of "Light" and then I remembered that I had an unfinished image of a heavenly being stuffed away in the corners of my external hard drive. I thought it would be cool to submit a Leveled Up version of Valkyrie to Art Explosion showing how enhancing light and dark, overlaying intricate textures, correcting anatomy and limited color additions can create a substantially different feeling when explored in an unexpected way. What better reason to tie up loose ends?
This is a digital piece of art and the Level Up has been made specifically for Art Explosion Week 24. I definitely could keep refining the piece but there are deadlines to be met :)
