August 3 - German astronomer David Fabricius, observing the starry sky, discovered in 1596 the first variable star - the World of China.

As it turned out later, this is a double star, that is, a system with two stars revolving around the common center of mass. And in 2007 it became known that Mira retains a "comet" tail of up to 13 light years.
