Okay, Roxana Bananamon here, your Banana Nutritionist. I have a lot of information about (1) nutrition, and (2) bananas. People need to know this stuff, and I'm happy to have a blogging place to pass on all I know about these things.
First off, another very important part of my life, besides bein' your Banana Nutritionist, is my two young 'uns,
Tay'tran
and Havana
I'm always thinkin' about how I can be uppin' their nutritional intake, you know? Any moms and dads out there, you know what I'm talkin' about. I suppose grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends... they think about this stuff too.
So today, I'm gonna talk about a snack featuring (you probably already guessed this) bananas. Not just bananas, but also peanut butter and raisins. It's called...
Ants on a Log
Cool!
This has got to be one of the simplest ways to get some Potassium, Protein, Fiber, Vitamins B6 and C, Manganese, Magnesium, a couple other nutrients I can't remember right now, and Iron. And that's just from the banana!
Then add in the nutrients from peanut butter and raisins (like more protein and more iron, and probably some other things but I don't do all that much research on the nutrition of other foods, only mainly bananas). And you've got yourself and your kids a
yummy, nutritious, easy snack!
Ants on a Log Recipe
Cut banana in chunks. Leave round or slice in half lengthwise
Smear with peanut butter
Drop raisins on top
Announce to any kid within earshot that they're about to eat Ants. On a Log. They'll love it.
I would like to thank Chef B. Foster for originally giving me this recipe, way back when Tay'Tran was a wee little thing.
Well, that's it for today's post by yours truly on Nutrition. Stay tuned to this blog for LOTS more information that I have to be passin' on to you (as well as some of the other members of the Banana Collective blogging on here too).
