For my Beat Battle League Round 1 song,
I choose to remix the theme song to Stranger Things.
The hit popular t.v. show on the Netflix.
Well I flipped it! I flipped it for real!
And now, please enjoy STEEMIT THINGS

STEEMIT THINGS

  • Behind The Scenes Of Steemit Things

I made "Steemit Things" in Ableton Live. From start to finish, all the way to mastering.
I started on my lap top, and moved it to my desk top for mastering. Only reason is I wanted to hear it on another set of computer speakers.
I worked in headphones for most of the time. I am staying with friends and don't have a true studio set up at the moment. Not that I ever really do. I am more of a take what's in front of me kind of guy, and turn it into Champaign!

I long while back for an album I am still in production on, I found the Phill Harmonics Sample bank on some public domain site. I dont have the link as it was years ago. I am sure with a little googling you could perhaps find it...

I made a bunch of Ableton instruments in the samplers, out of them. I used a couple of them in Steemit Things.
I used the Mini Moog for 2 different instruments
And I used the Ableton drum set called "Selector Kit Clean.adg" Their is a lot of samples for each drum sound in this kit. i use it a lot, as it is quick to find good drum sounds!
I did not use more than 5 instruments total. It all started as midi, then i recorded it al into audio.

I went online and I googled "stranger things theme song midi" and found the midi notes that way!

I used a lot of plugins. Mostly Ableton made, but I did sure a couple plugins from the Fab Filter family.
Some Sausage Fattener too for thinking of bass!

Their was more but I can't give away all my secrets... I mean I can, but I think this is enough info.
If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer such.

For Mastering, I downloaded a chain, and followed a tutorial I found on youtube by Ken Loi.
He offers the download in the description. It is pretty good! I have used it on tracks that got picked up by a label last year. It is quick and easy! You might have to tweak it here and their to fit your tune. Here is the video with the link to Ken's mastering chain:

  • And for the video,
I used a font that looked close to the Stranger Things font.
I used some clips from their intro, and a few bits from one of their trailers I found.
I cut it and effected it in Final Cut X

Thanks you to
@chiefmappster @danyelk @beatseb @derekmiller
