Portland Oregon Temple
The Portland Oregon Temple was the 42nd Temple to be completed by The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, I am mesmerized by the architecture and design, many of the Temples are based on a similar design with six spires, but this one stands out with it's unique patterns on the spires.
Short History
The property was purchased in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with the initial idea to construct a junior college in the 1960s. On April 7,1984, it was announced that the site would be used for the construction of the Temple some 20 years after the property was purchased. The process to get the property approved for temple construction took 27 public hearings, four petition drives to stop construction and eight law suits before finally being approved.

W. Craig Zwick was assigned chief general contractor to undertake the construction. Groundbreaking was done September 20, 1986, and soon after the groundbreaking it started to rain and didn't stop until 3 years later. Due to the rain the supersaturated soil conditions posed a challenge and the foundation had to be redesigned, but it turned out to be a blessing, as the foundation was now reinforced to withstand future wet conditions.
