Temples The House Of The Lord

So I have decided to share with you the wonder and beauty of the Temples built by The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. I will purely be posting photos taken of these magnificent buildings to display the architecture and design of these Holy places every Sunday. I will share a short history of the Temple with each post. If you have any further questions as to the purposes of the Temples and religious meanings, feel free to visit LDS.ORG

Short History

The City Centre was used as a place of gathering for the saints since 1850. A meetinghouse was erected in 1856 the first of its kind. It served as a meetinghouse till 1918 when it was torn down and the foundations buried under the North lawn of the Utah Stake Tabernacle. The Tabernacle construction started in 1882 and took 16 years to complete. The Tabernacle was destroyed by fire in 2010. In 2012 ground breaking was done for the construction of the Provo City Centre Temple and the Temple was dedicated in 2016.
