Does anyone else ever buy Groupons to try out new places periodically? Over the weekend, I found a great authentic Mexican restaurant near my home that Groupon had a deal where you spend $12 for a voucher worth $20 of food/drinks. The restaurant was called José Peñoz.
This was the chicken fajita entree, served piping hot and steamy. It was served with the plate you see in the background -- fresh salad, pico de gallo, guacamole, black beans and rice -- you see in the background.
I ordered something I had never seen offered anywhere before, called "molcajete" (lava rock). Mexican Molcajete is a variety of meats (your choice of grilled shrimp, steak and/or chicken breast) simmered in homemade tomatillo sauce, oaxaca cheese, charbroiled fresh cactus, grilled pepper, grilled onions and jalapeno toreano served with refried beans served in an extremely hot bowl that was made out of lava rock. The food was phenomenal!!! Next time I go, I'll take a couple photos to post!
I'm including a pic of the tasty margarita I had with my meal, served salt-on-the-rim-with-lime, for #bevhappyhour, a 24/7 beverage party going on round the clock, hosted by @beverages! Post and use the tag #bevhappyhour for any kind of beverage or libation! 🍸🍹🍺🍷🍵🍮🥛🥃
Even the ladies restroom was nicely decorated with Mexican themes -- take a look at this photo that was hanging!
