Did I mention yet that I am a keen Christmas decoration lover? In this post - dedicated to #BeautifulSunday - initiated by @ace108 - I would love to show you some of my mom's Christmas decorations. During the years she collected a lot of different things and she loves to arrange them all over the house. It kinda looks like they live in Santa's workshop ... 🎅🏼
The first item, which I love very much - an wooden angel riding a beautiful deer - is really old. It belonged to my grandmother when she was young and to see it brings back good memories to my Christmasses during my childhood.
Many of her decorations old or new are made in the ore mountains, a low mountain landscape near the area I was born. In ancient times people there were very poor. One of the most important source of income was mining, for example silver mining. Following the decline of mining, the manufacture of wooden goods and toys developed, especially in the Eastern Ore Mountains. One small town is very famous for its traditional wooden crafts: Seiffen. Maybe you have heard of it before. Nowadays it became a huge tourist site because of its history and it's interesting manufactures for wooden decorations. These manufactures can be visited as well.
I hope all these sweet little figures and decorations made you get deeper in the Christmas mood. Have a nice evening everyone!
