Playing with Fire - Beautiful Sunday

My Share for #BeautifulSunday initiated by @ace108

Busy day as everyone is preparing for the New Year Celebration. People buying food for the Media Noche (New Year's Eve Dinner). People getting ready to visit their loved ones but there is one tradition that every Filipino is looking forward to every New Year.

Fireworks

1.jpg

This Sunday we went out to buy some fireworks for the celebration. Yesterday we could not find any being sold in our city as there has been changes in the celebration in our place. There would only be a certain place in the city to enjoy your fireworks. We went to another town and there we saw this place a market for fireworks. We never bothered to purchase fireworks here as last year there were a lot of vendors at our place. Since we will be celebrating the New Year with my in laws it was ok to fire up your arsenal in this town.

Here are some of most popular fireworks here in our country

The Fountain - Comes in different sizes and bursts out a colorful display for lights like a fountain

The Trompillio - A tube shaped fireworks that is nailed in the middle and goes round and round bursting with a lights display

The Roman Candle - Hand held and fires colorful balls of light

The Lusis - Hand held and lights up like a torch with different colors

The Crying Cow - No lights display but make a loud noise like a crying cow

The Kwitis - An aerial firework that explodes in the air with a loud noise

These are just some of the popular cheap fireworks but there are a lot more which are more expensive. Those are the ones that shows colorful aerial display which are getting popular each year with the masses.

These are Fountain fireworks wrapped up in yellow foil.

Here are the more expensive fireworks that shows a brilliant aerial display. We were never fond of buying expensive fireworks. Most of the time we just enjoy the display from the neighbors lol.

7.JPG

These are called missiles which shoots up the air with a whistling sound.

8.JPG

This place gets busier as the New Year closes in. Most folks purchase an hour or two before the celebration as the vendors tend to sell their good at a cheaper price.

9.JPG

This is called the Sinturon ni Judas (Judas Belt). It comes is different lengths up to 1000 pcs of exploding fire crackers and at the end there is a whistling firecracker to end it all.

10.JPG

Some more fountains on sale as this is quite popular to the masses.

12.JPG

There are some rockets which are sold which is the first time I have seen. Every year they make up new fireworks to grab the customer's attention.

Things has change in the trend of fire crackers here in the Philippines. Before it was like a war zone during New Year as there were a lot of dangerous fire crackers out in the streets. Some can even shatter concrete with the magnitude. With names like Goodbye Earth, Goodbye Universe, The Piccolo which was meant for kids and lit up like a match then thrown. There were a lot of cases of injuries lost limbs which was dreadful. I am glad the trend has changed through out the years and the accident cases significantly dropped. It's good to have a safe celebration with limbs intact.

14.JPG

Some just celebrate with trumpets which is more agreeable for some.

Here are the Roman Candles and Lusis.

17.JPG

This is how we spent our morning shopping for fireworks. It was fun and seems we can't complete the celebration without it. Maybe it is something we just got used to a tradition passed on thru generations.

20.JPG

So here is what we got nothing exploding. Just a brilliant lights display for us.

21.JPG

Also remember to always use with caution. Never hold the fireworks as much as possible. Use a long stick to light it up and ensure it is away from anything that might burn. Never let the kids handle fireworks which is better to be safe than sorry.

Now here are some sparklers which I lit up just for you.

Enjoy yourselves and have a very Safe, Happy and Blessed New Year ahead of you.
