Early morning in the heart of Burnham Park in the Philippines is a man made lake that attracts tourist. At only four feet deep the lake involves boating which is one of the recreations in this park. Come and join me today on a simple boat ride at Burnham Lake.
Simple Joys of Life
None of us knew how to row a boat and it was up to me to be the captain. I said, "How hard could it be? I just need to row the paddle just like how I see in the movies."
The guy pushed our boat away from the dock and I was rowing like crazy. I was like we were not moving and the boat is just turning.
My passengers were laughing and I was getting embarrassed. I felt the people were looking at us as we spun around the water and not getting anywhere. I said, "Ok let's try this one more time.
Slowly I pulled up both paddles and at the same time slowly pushed down the water and pulled away. To my surprise we were moving and the family cheered. The only problem was were going backwards with the tail first of our mermaid boat. I could not see where I was going . My family was doing the navigation where to go and somehow it was good enough.
After minutes I was getting the hang of it and I was rowing like a pro. We have a short clip if you would like to see how captain watersnake101 does it like a professional lol.
Minutes passed and we were having so much fun. The sun was getting high and getting a bit warm. We headed out to stop for a while in a shaded area in the water.
Here is the crew of our mermaid boat and we hanged around this shaded area of the lake for a while. Also my arms were getting tired after a couple of rounds around the lake.
While resting and enjoying the view other people were starting to join in. We saw this pedal powered swan and we all went like, " How come we did not get a swan which looks fun and no need to paddle." We wanted to board the boat and steal the swan and swap it with our paddle powered boat.
I bet my little @bearkid wanted the Winnie the Pooh boat. We did not know that there were a lot of boat owners and with different designs.
Here is a good spot in case boating is not for you and would just like to enjoy the view.
The weather here is cooler and you could see steam fog coming up from the water in this beautiful morning.
Here I am again still enjoying myself and we do a couple more rounds. We even had some close encounter collision course with some boats. Good thing your captain knew how to turn and paddled our way safely.
More parked boats with monster and dinosaur designs. More people were starting to join in the fun and the lake was starting to be filled with boats.
I wonder how it would feel like to row in a real lake with mountains on the back ground. I would love to go fishing out in a great big lake some day. I could spend the whole afternoon there. Here there are no big fishes although there are tiny ones which we saw swimming around.
This boat with seven passengers looks precarious as you could see water is almost reaching the edge of the boat. I'm not sure if they thought about it but it's just four feet, still it's not worth it getting soaked.
After 30 minutes we headed back and I felt we were satisfied already. We could have stayed longer but we were getting hungry as we have not had breakfast yet. Original plan was to grab breakfast first but we got taken over by the offer that was too good to pass. Also if we spent the whole morning here we would miss to see the other sights on the park.
It may not be extravagant or exotic but we had a great time simple joys of life such as this is priceless. Especially if you are around the people that you love.
Hope you had fun with us today on a simple yet enjoyable morning.
