Simple DIY Oatmeal facemask that gives you flawless skin

I have tried a lot of face mask, many expensive ones bought from the market. However, in the end, basic remedies are the most effective and affordable ones. My go to DIY facemask is a mixture of oatmeal, yoghurt and honey, due to its numerous skin benefits including cleansing, exfoliant and moisturizing properties. This mask is also extremely versatile. For instance, you can choose whether to grind up the oats or leave whole, which create more of an exfoliant.

Skin Benefits

  • As a natural exfoliant and homemade scrub. Oatmeal has natural exfoliant properties, so it can be used as a scrub to remove dead cells and blackheads. The result is a brighter complexion.
  • For clean and clear skin. It can also be used as mild soap, as it contains saponins, which is a cleansing agent.
  • It treats acne and eczema. Its many healing properties help with the treatment of acne.
  • Honey fights bacteria due to its potent anti-bacteria qualities.
  • Tackles oily skin. Both oily and dry skin can benefit from application of these masks. It can absorb excess amounts of oil from your skin and also moisturizes the dry spots. A perfect balance for every skin type!

Hopefully, this will also be part of your home-spa routine! Here is a simple way to make it:

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of oatmeal as directed either with 1 tablespoon of water or milk if you would like added vitamins to smooth the paste.
  2. Mix it with a teaspoon of honey (add more water/milk if it gets to thick) and 1 tablespoon of yoghurt.
  3. Apply the mask to your face, leave it for 15-20 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and afterwards with cold water to close up pores. Done! :)

As you can see, oatmeal is an excellent ingredient for homemade face masks. It treats a number of skin ailments and can make your skin feel smooth, healthy and renewed! What skin mask would you recommend?
