BACK TO JAXX? PAYING WITH BITCOINS ON TWITCH.TV!

I would like to talk about Jaxx wallet today. Most people probably ended using Jaxx after some guys found out that the wallet is not secure at all, because the seeds are stored unencrypted.

This is still a big danger for all the users using Jaxx desktop wallet. Bear in mind that Jaxx is a hot wallet and bigger amount of coins should always be in a hardware or paper wallets! Decentral is actually making their own hardware wallet, which could be really cool, but more about that later.

This is just my honest opinion, but I would say that the desktop wallets are as secure as your computer is. It's mostly about the person itself. Do you have an antivirus installed? Do you have a firewall and ports closed? Do you click on every .exe file you see? Are you a Windows user or do you have a Linux on your personal computer, or even better, macOS?

I think that Jaxx could potentially work as a cold wallet too. MacOS is a really secure operation system and if you would browse just a few secure websites and make Jaxx's transactions you should be pretty safe.

MacOS is a secure operation system, because it is sandboxed. The security is build into the operation system itself and different apps can't communicate together. Also you can have fingerprint verification, passwords and much more. Sandboxing is not something that Windows offer normally and you need to download programs like VirtualBox for that.

The two most used operation systems for mobiles, Android and iOS, are both sandboxed and secure, but some people "root" their devices for whatever weird reasons. It makes the operation systems much more vulnerable and I don't suggest you to do it. The only problem with Jaxx on the mobile phones is that it is still really unresponsible and slow. It needs a lot of updates.

30 DAYS OF JAXX

Jaxx now has something called "30 Days of Jaxx" going on. It is an update of Jaxx every day for a whole month, except the labor days and long weekends. They already added some new coins into the Jaxx wallet, for example, TenX, Maecenas, QTUM, Musiconomi, CoFound.it and Po.et. One of the coins they will probably add will be Komodo as it was said a few months ago by the Komodo's team on twitter ().

But it's not just a new coins added. On the 4th day Jaxx presented us a new chief security officer in their team. Hopefully he will make Jaxx more secure and will increase its reputation again. I think Jaxx really steeped up their game and hopefully something really great comes out of these updates later.

You can see all the updates on their blog - http://decentral.ca/category/blog

TWITCH

If you didn't know, Twitch.tv it is a streaming platform for gamers and people that just love gaming. Few years ago they added a possibility to subscribe to twitch streamers with Bitcoins via Bitpay. They currently also have the possibility to pay with Bitcoins via Xsolla too.

I wanted to try it, but having just a Bitcoin option is such a shame. Bitcoin is really bad for small amounts like this, because you will really pay a lot on the fees.

I am not sure if this is just problem with Jaxx or Bitcoin in general, but there were two options how could I purchase the subscription.

I could pay a normal fee or a cheap fee on Jaxx. Crazy thing is that the transaction was 0.00065578 BTC and the normal fee was almost as big as the purchase itself!

I didn't want to pay that much just on the fee. I chose the slow fee instead as the fee was not that that pricey. It was actually a big mistake, because the confirmation took so long (over 6 hours) that the order expired! Now I don't have subscription nor the money!

Few hours ago I asked for a refund and now I am awaiting an email from Xsolla.

The point is that we should really push these sites and organizations to add better cryptocurrencies as payment options, because many sites have Bitcoin and Bitcoin only, but there are much better cryptos for smaller purchases and some are even without the transaction fees!

Over email I suggested Twitch and Xsolla to add Litecoin and Steem and I really would want to know what they think of that, if they reply. :)

Have you ever bought something with Bitcoins? What do you think about the fees? Feel free to comment below, the first three steemians will get 100% upvote from me on their comment. See you soon!

Thank you!
