Dive into bitcoin Twitter for the first time and you’re confronted by an array of confusing acronyms, memes, and jargon tossed around like confetti. Cryptocurrency has its own language, honed through years spent lurking in trollboxes and forums with like-minded geeks. For anyone who’s new to bitcoin, the following glossary should come in handy.

🗞 Bitcoin Cash Jumps 70% as Coinbase and Gdax Announce Immediate Trading

Retail and professional cryptocurrency traders can now trade Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on two of the world’s most popular exchanges, Coinbase and Gdax. News of the announcements sent the BCH price to over 3,700 USD as of this writing.

🗞 On Net Neutrality, VPNs, the Decentralized Web, and Supercomputers

Now that net neutrality is dead here in America, you may be left wondering: is there anything I can do to fight this? Well, there’s a pretty strong case to be made for virtual private networks (VPNs) in light of the news, and there’s an even stronger case to be made for decentralized web protocols that run on the blockchain. Both VPNs and crypto platforms like Substratum and Golem could allow people to circumvent the potential manipulation of data access that net neutrality’s repeal may invite.

🗞 Bitcoin Drops Following CME Futures, Investors Still Buy In At 100% Premium

Monday saw CME futures close at $19,100, 2.1 percent less than the debut price envisaged by the exchange.

Garrett See, chief executive of trader DV Chain told the WSJ:

“There was some fear ahead of the Cboe futures launch that Wall Street was going to come in and short Bitcoin, but we haven’t seen that.”

🗞 BCH Surges Above $2,000 Following BitPay Integration Announcement

According to a post from Friday on BitPay’s company blog, the need for more currency options for merchants has become increasingly clear. Over time, the service plans to add payments options in “other Blockchains which Bitcoin has inspired,” starting with BCH. Detailing the Bitcoin Cash addition, the BitPay team stated,

We will begin adding support for a Bitcoin Cash payment option this year, starting with BitPay Card loads. All BitPay invoices will include a Bitcoin Cash payment option by default in early 2018.

🗞 $300 Million Lockup: Storj Clarifies Token Plans

Revealed exclusively to CoinDesk, the blockchain-based file storage network Storj is announcing it will lock-up of 245 million tokens it has in reserve (valued at more than $300 million at press time) for another six months. Yet apart from offering clarity to investors, the move effectively makes Storj, which announced in May it would be creating 500 million tokens on ethereum – 70 million which it sold in a public, an outlier in the unwieldy and opaque world of crypto-economics.
