Saying Goodbye At the BLACKLUX Party

After such a wild and fun time with everyone at the BLACKLUX Party, it's hard to say goodbye. But even the best party has to come to an end sometime. With this post, I bid you all goodbye to 2017, welcome to 2018, and have a safe journey on your home from 14 days of party mayhem. If you need some food or drinks to take with you, there might be some cookies, hors d'ouevres, dinner, and drinks left!

As @ddschteinn pointed out in his great Schteinn Report about the BLACKLUX Party, some party-goers may show up late and others may hang on until January 8 -- when this post finally pays out. So even though this post is the last of the party fun, half of the posts are still within their payout period.

On January 2, I'll do the first party clean-up. I'll report on the prizes and donations made in the first half of the party. On January 9, I'll do the final party clean-up and distribute the rest of the prizes. So there is still time to win prizes and make a git to @blacklux to help recover from hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico.

How is 2018 Looking So Far?

I wish you well on your journey home from the BLACKLUX Party! Where are you headed? What's it like there, at the start of 2018?

Put a photo in the comments showing what your part of the world looks like, around where you live, in the first days of 2018. Or if you have made a post like this, leave its link in the comments. I'll select 2 random winners of 2 SBD each. That's 4 SBD total. If you want your potential prize to go to @blacklux, let me know in the comments.

Here's what 2018 looks like at Haphazard Homestead, in Oregon's Willamette Valley. It's gotten down to 19F degrees and we've had standing ice for several days. But still, anytime it's above freezing, the grass, conifers, and hardy plants are growing. Here are a couple views:

Here are a few shots from today at Haphazard Homestead, January 1, 2018. It's prettier with snow! But we haven't had any yet. There are a lot of projects to do, as usual -- prune over 40 fruit trees, cut back some wild blackberry patches (that patch in the lower left image is over 7 feet tall), get some garden areas covered to kill the grass, and of course, eat a lot of weeds!

Gift Some SBD To @blacklux and I'll Match It 1-For-1!

Thanks, @ecoinstant, @kalemandra, and @mariannewest, for your SBD gifts to @blacklux to help out with her hurricane recovery. I can still match 42 -- 42! - more SBD, so let me know when you've made a transfer to @blacklux! I make my 1-for-1 match as soon as you let me know you helped out!

How To Transfer SBD to @blacklux

If you haven't transferred and SBD to anyone before, it's easy! Here's an old post by @steemrollin that shows step-by-step How to Transfer SBD to Someone. You will need your Active Password to do it. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments below!

I hope you stop by @blacklux's blog, too, with some holiday cheer! She is already thankful for all your kind words and support!

If You Are New to the BLACKLUX Party

If you just arrived, that's just fine -- you're not too late! You can get your party started with some Holiday Music That Will Get You Moving! Then you can grab some Holiday Cookies or stop by the Hors D'ouevres and Snack Buffet. Then swing on over the Party Bar - the drinks are free! There's a big table for Making Holiday Cards, while you Share Your Holiday Memories. You can join a group to Sing Christmas Carols, too. And then head over to the makeshift stage to the Holiday Poetry Slam and tell jokes at the Laugh-Off. If you work up an appetite, there's some good food at the Holiday Potluck Dinner. After that great meal, we're getting more laid back, listing to mellow acoustic and folk music, and sharing what we are grateful for in 2017 and our big dreams for 2018.

Why We're Having a BLACKLUX Party

It's the season for holiday parties. Steemit needs a party! And hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated Puerto Rico. Our friend, @blacklux, is living through the mess -- still! You can read more about the party in the BLACKLUX Party Post No. 1. I hope you stop by @blacklux's blog, too, with some holiday cheer and upvotes!
