Goodbye Childhood
So right off the bat, if you have not watched this movie, don't read this, as I'm going to be spoiling everything, this is your official warning. There are also a few things I would like to state before you read this, as to give you a better understanding of where I am coming from. Star Wars was probably the first movie I ever watched, well the first movie that blew my mind as a child, to some degree I could say that those lessons learned from Yoda is what made me who I am today. It has always had a very special place in my heart, that childhood memory I could think back to, where anything was possible. Another fact I would like you to know is that by no means am a crazy fan boy, the only Star Wars memorabilia I own is a t-shirt and some PlayStation 4 games, oh and a mug, which I got this Christmas.
Before I go loose myself to the dark side, by telling what I hate, let me give credit where credit is due. This was the most visually beautiful of all eight movies in the series ever, frame by frame it was a masterpiece of cinematography and visual effects. The acting by Mark and Carrie was pretty awesome too, and that was about it...
"Yes, a Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice." - Yoda
This was the ultimate slap in the face to original Star Wars trilogy, even the prequel trilogy, and its fans that I have ever witnessed in the history of film. The blatant disrespect to the story, the characters and the lore was probably the same as watching your whole family killed with a lightsaber, by someone you love. Jar Jar Binks is a legend when you compare him to this movie, yes I went there. This was an absolute insult to everything that we have come to love about Star Wars. The plot holes where bigger than those of black holes, everything that was built up over 30 years of story telling, was covered in gas and the lit on fire to burn up in the worse two hours of my life.
Firstly political, feminist angle in this movie was so unnecessary, the white men are stupid narrative was so strong they had to introduce a social justice warrior new character, who just cheapened the whole story. The logical of space was completely rewritten, some how space is no longer gravity free, because bombs can fall. The worst was that they could now use light speed to blow up anything they want, if only they thought of that 7 movies ago and then none of these quests ever needed to happen, why not just fly a ship straight into the Deathstar?
What probably literally fucked me off the more was how they just vaporized the entire idea of linage, which is what made Star Wars so epic, the passing on through the bloodline. The reason all those character, were who they were was because of linage. They had to destroy all that and make Rey a nobody to fit their fucking stupid left wing, SJW politics, because things like the privilege narrative, everyone can be special. No, they can't not in Star Wars, it's litreally a movie about one family for fuck sake.
"I don't know you anymore...Anakin you're breaking my heart, you're going down a path I can't follow." - Padmé Amidala
Every single plot that was set up in the previous movie was just desecrated, Snoke the most baddest bad guy of all time gets killed in the dumbest way possible, no back story, nothing. Yoda, oh why did they have to go there? The entire scene with Yoda went against everything the Jedi stood for, you know who make decisions with emotions, yes the left and so do Sith.
They only way possible JJ Abrams can save this in episode 9 is to make this movie a dream sequence, it starts with Luke waking up from this horrible nightmare. Thanks for pissing on my childhood.
"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is." - Yoda
