I would like to welcome everyone to another day of the #botanicalgardentours. Today I want to present to you the Cornus Kousa, also known as the Kousa Dogwood.
Ich möchte euch alle herzlich auf einen weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours einladen. Heute möchte ich euch den Cornus Kousa vorstellen, der auch als Asiatischer Blüten-Hartriegel bekannt ist.
The Cornus Kousa is native to the regions of China, Japan and Korea and Taiwan. It has a brother, the Cornus Florida, which ca be found in North America. The tree can get as high as 10 m with a stem diameter of 35 cm. The oval leaves grow in a opposite fashion and can get as long as 10 cm and 5 cm broad. The flower posesses 4 beautiful white symetrical petals. The blossom of the Kousa is usually during mai to july. As this tree is still very young it is bearing no full grown fruits. Those would be kind of red balls with a diameter of 2 cm, which can be eaten and taste similiar to the mango fruit.
Der Asiatische Blüten-Hartriegel ist in den Regionen China, Japan, Korea und Taiwan beheimatet. Es hat einen Bruder, den Cornus Florida, der in Nordamerika zu finden ist. Der Baum kann bis zu 10 m hoch werden und einen Stammdurchmesser von 35 cm haben. Die ovalen Blätter wachsen gegenläufig und können bis zu 10 cm lang und 5 cm breit werden. Die Blume besitzt 4 schöne weiße symmetrische Blütenblätter. Die Blüte der Kousa ist in der Regel von Mai bis Juli. Da dieser Baum noch sehr jung ist, trägt er keine ausgewachsenen Früchte. Das wären rote Kugeln mit einem Durchmesser von 2 cm, die essbar sind und ahnlich wie Mango schmecken.
