@dlike With A New Rollout: Much Faster Application

Dlike is one of the applications that I personally feel has some of the biggest potential. It is one that is very simple to use with hardly any learning curve at all. Users can sign up and being using it in just a few minutes. There is little to understand about it which makes it easy to embrace.

This is an application that is a cross between Pinterest and Reddit. It allows for the loading of links along with pictures. There is also the ability to microblog about a link due to an expanded text box.

The application recently went through an update which is very exciting. Essentially, we are looking at a completely new roll-out.

One of the nice features is the site seems a lot quicker than it was before. According to the development team, they are now on the cloud which appears to have a significant impact.

Also, in checking the site out, it seems this is a MVP version. After being down for more than a week, I appears the team wanted to get the site back and running. The new layout will, hopefully, add a lot more to functionality as time goes buy.

One thing that is noticeable upon landing on the page is a Messenger box. I am not sure if this will be rolled out so that users can message each other which would hold great promise.

The share screen is very clean and basic.

Similar to before, one can choose a category to post in for Dlike and then the tags that are used on the blockchain. One feature that I do not believe was part of the application before was the ability to choose one's payout. Now, this can be selected on each post. I prefer when an application gives me the option of how the Steem payout takes place.

The new layout is clean and, at this time, very basic. I am sure as more of the features are added back in we will see the layout altered some.

Eliminating the time lag on the site was crucial. From what I was seeing, many were not happy with the slowness before. It took a number of seconds for a post to go through and there were a number of times error messages came up. Without using the new site extensively, I can only surmise at this point. Nevertheless, I would think this was something the team worked hard to address.

In the early stages of decentralization and blockchain, it is often brought up that many projects do not require blockchain or, if they fit, the applications just are not there. So far, this is a truthful statement.

Dlike answers the question of why is a blockchain needed. Like all of Steem, the content/reward pool alters how people are incentivized on the Internet. Posting comments and pictures is now a way to earn currency instead of just helping multi-billion corporations.

In just clicking around the site, albeit a MVP version, the speed seems to rival most that are out there. One is not sacrificing efficiency for using this application as compared to something else. While scaled down at the moment, one cannot see the difference between Dlike, which is tied to a blockchain, and all else that is out there

Pinterest is going public at some point this year. From the valuations I came across, the range is believed to be $12B-$16B upon IPO. Reddit has an estimated value of a couple billion dollars. This tells me these types of sites are very popular with the Internet community and the financial sector richly rewards them.

At the same time, Reddit is encountering some of the same issues as YouTube and Facebook. The censor fairies are beginning to go through. This is something that does not happen with blockchain. Posting any text ends up on the blockchain and, for practical purposes, cannot be removed.

If these entities keep it up, this will be a point that more people become aware of

Great job by the Dlike team. I am excited to see what is added over the next few weeks. They update is off to a great start
