Reviewing the Infiniti QX70 ~ Smarter Car Reviews

The Car

The Infinity QX70 comes with quite a number of options that you can choose to add onto the standard equipment which is already pretty impressive for its starting price. The car starts with a 7-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifers on the steering wheel for more manual control. The reversing camera, cruise control, air-conditioning, heated and cooled leather seats and 20-inch alloys all come with the base trim.

Moving up to the S, S Premium or Ultimate trims will give you automatic braking, sat nav and lane-departure prevention as other optional driver assistance tech like lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and the coveted 360-degree camera system to help with parking the big luxury SUV.

The Drive

Under the hood, the QX70 has a 325-horsepower V6 engine – that will give you lots of power wherever you’re going especially when you’re taking off from a stop. The 7-speed gearbox transitions smoothly both up and down but be warned that the size of the car will play a number of your fuel economy as will the constant desire to rev your car to feel that acceleration.

While on the road, the QX70 is composed and handles corners excellently with little to no body roll. Handling the car is great with the suspension and rear-wheel drive although the 4WD option is available. Over bumpy roads you’ll feel it a bit more, but overall, we found the car nice enough to handle especially when you reach open road what with the comfortable seat and all your controls within easy reach.

The Interior

There are a number of luxury options like heated and cooled seats as well as a massage function that can be put in to give the car an even more posh feeling, but in essence, we found the interior of the QX70 already rather classy with its premium materials and excellent layout. The rear seats are a little small for our liking though but you’ll be able to fit 2 adults in the back well enough as long as they don’t mind the lack of headroom. There’s enough leg space though and the back seats do recline, so at least there are ways to get comfortable in the back. The noise in the cabin is negligible when you’re on the move too so that’s a plus.

The QX70 comes up to a mere 1700L at the back with the rear seats down and it drops to a measly 707L when you have passengers so be warned if you’re heading out on a grocery run. The power liftgate comes standard for the boot, but chances are that it won’t help much since you don’t get much capacity anyway.

Overall

As a driver’s car, the QX70 doesn’t disappoint. The dashboard and infotainment system are quite helpful as well, as is the starting price for the base model. Families will have to be more cautious looking at this model because of the cramped conditions of the back and the gas mileage leaves a lot to be desired.
