Hello steemians! I am @lakawero and I became part of this very inspiring community for more or less 3 months already. I am so thankful and blessed to have given this opportunity to know steemit. Steemit helped me a lot not just about earning bucks and upholding lives but also on improving my own, especially about writing and sharing vital informations about my travels. But what I loved most about this community is the generosity and everyone’s willingness to help especially to those who are in dire need of it.

That’s why, I am writing this post, knocking on your hearts, to humbly ask help from all of you, my fellow steemians about our agenda (in behalf of the #ByahengMindanaw team and LUMOC - Lulu Mountaineering Club) in helping the Manobo tribe in the hinterlands of Arakan Valley North Cotabato this coming holy week.

Our group is planning a Holy week hike at Arakan Valley, North Cotabato., this coming March 28-31, 2018 to explore and enjoy Bani falls or also known as “The Mighty Matigol Falls”. The campsite is located in the small community of Manobo Tribe in Brgy. Datu Ladayon, Arakan. Arakan from the word “Ara” which means abundance in natural resources and “Kan” which signifies bravery of the Manobo settlers.

Although Arakan Valley is abundant in natural resources, the scarcity of basic needs for this community - such as Medicines, school supplies and even food - is a pity. This community is seldom reached by the government agencies since, it is far from the civilization.
That’s why, once again, I am humbly knocking at your doors to ask for a little help and funding for us to be able to produce the needed goods that we can donate to this little striving community of the Manobos. Our main agendas are the following:
1. BASIC MEDICAL KITS
Brgy. Datu Ladayon is located in a mountainous part or Arakan Valley. Their district hospital is too far and also has limited supplies of medicines. On our first time being there, we asked them “what will they want from us whenever we come back”, they said medicinal supplies and pain killers.

Our medicine kit will include the following: Loperamide, Paracetamols and other over-the-counter antibiotics, Alcohols, Cottons, Cotton balls, Betadines, Gauze Bandages, Band Aids and etc. The medical kit will be turned over to the tribal leader.
2. EDUCATIONAL BOOKS
Our mountaineering club was able to build a small nipa hut which now serves as the community’s Mini Library. This is part of our efforts to help the Manobo kids be able to learn more through the books stored in there. So, I am asking your help that if you have used books from different subjects of different levels that are not being used, we will humbly accept it and we will add all donated educational books to the mini library.

3. HYGIENE KITS
Having proper hygiene is having a healthy body, so I would also like to give (if there is enough donations) hygiene kits for the community so they will have a healthier lifestyle. Unfortunately, I don’t have the exact numbers of the household so this might just be included in the medical kit and will also be turned over to their tribal leader.

NOTE:
1st. This charity work is not an official event of the club. This is just my initiative to fulfill our promise on the first time we went there that, when we come back, we will share to them their needed medicine supplies.
2nd. Although this is just a normal hike, the club agreed to my aim and is supporting my cause.
3rd. _All possible gross earnings I will receive in this post will be allocated to the 1st and 3rd agenda of this charity work. _
4th. The tribal community is not aware of this outreach plan so this charity work will be a big surprise gift to them for their genuine hospitality the first time we step foot on their community.
So once again, I am knocking at your hearts for our chance to help and do good to our fellow Filipino people, particularly the Manobo tribe of Brgy. Datu Ladayon in Arakan Valley, North Cotabato. Even a small amount is a blessing to them. Let us be their source of good health and inspiration to continue striving for greatness despite the scarcity of help from the local government they belong.
