Another Donation Made From Funds Raised Here On Steemit!

Last year my husband @jackmiller ran two fundraisers here on steemit.

He would post about them and then add the dollars from the post to the total and he would do posts during the week from which he also added funds to the fundraisers total.

When the price of SBD jumped both fundraisers were achieved quickly.

I posted about the deliveries of the items and on those posts there was a lot of money too, because the price of Steem jumped too.

We also received a donation of 10 Steem from @hanshotfirst for our fundraisers.

So we ended up having extra money from the original two fundraising efforts.

Over $200 USD in total.

So my husband said that we need to make another donation and that I need to find a charity.

I searched the internet and found a few charity organizations, one that I found was active with young and old people, with mothers and children, helping everywhere is Anglicare.

Their internet page is: http://www.anglicare.asn.au/

*Anglicare Australia was formed in September 1997 and subsequently, many Anglican caring organisations around Australia adopted the name Anglicare. But the history of Anglican caring work began some 140 years earlier with the formation in 1857 of the organisation that was to become the Anglican Home Missions Society in Sydney, the predecessor to Anglicare NSW.

This organization is spread out all over the country and helps many people.

I called them and explained to them about Steemit, that we are a community of bloggers and that from the funds raised by bloggers from blogging we were able to make a small donation.

They were happy to receive our donation.

Now you may wonder, "What did we give them?"

As we mentioned earlier, our son @chrismiller is trying to get a small business started and we are helping him in this as much as we can. We buy items bulk and then he sells them at under the regular prices that people pay in shops or markets.

School here in Australia starts soon, end of January or beginning of February, and we were selling backpacks a lot, we had 22 childrens backpacks left which cost us only $15 AUD. In the shops they sell from $22 to $29.99 AUD.

We also had 9 pairs of running shoes brand Dunlop. Which we paid only $14 each. In the shops they sell for $24.99 to $29.99.

So the total of our donation was 22 x $15 = $330+

  • 9 x $14 = $126
    TOTAL = $456 AUD

That is about $340 USD.

We calculated that when we post about this extra donation made thanks to Steemit that we shall again have some upvotes, but not enough to be in a "profit". This way we are sure that we gave from us too in this donation and not just the money raised from others.

We packed everything up and made the delivery today.
We told junior that he has to carry everything by himself because he was a little naughty this morning!

When we made the delivery the ladies there were happy to see my children carrying items in smiling.

We told them about Steemit and they asked about our T-Shirts, I think we may have new members on Steemit soon.

We took one quick photo before leaving.

We thank everyone who helped in our fundraisers, everyone who upvoted, who used bidding bots to assist and who gave a donation.

This year my husband wants to do something again, but will make it a lot simpler not so that he has to calculate exchange rates of dollars and SBD and Steem every time there is a payment on Steemit.

For me, I have the nice part to do, I meet people and give them things!

Thank you again to everyone.

Thank you for reading.
